Delarden House, Farnham
Delarden House was constructed between the Great World Wars and was one of the first houses to be constructed on the Moor Park Estate on a magnificent site overlooking the Wey Valley. It is considered to be one of Harold Falkner's (1875 - 1963) most theatrical designs amongst the numerous country houses he built in and around Farnham.
Haworth King's commission from the owners Mr & Mrs Nigel Allen involved extensive refurbishment including partial reconstruction of the south façade, due to defective leadwork and lack of cavity trays in the external walls which caused sulphates released from the rendered painted blockwork to display extensive cracking to the painted cement render finish.
The architectural commission also involved the construction of an indoor swimming pool and double garage planned as two separate buildings in matching materials to accentuate the axial design and composition of this distinguished property.
