Residential Projects

The Fairfield, Farnham. 1996-1997 for Flavia Estates Limited Contract sum: (£0.5m - £0.99m).

The Practice's original involvement was to secure an alternative land use for two large Victorian warehouses and associated outbuildings which had become redundant due to bulk containerisation and storage. The first Planning Consents involved the refurbishment and restructuring of these buildings for mixed use, residential flats and B1 offices.

The owner subsequently sold the buildings to Flavia Estates, whose perception of the housing market and the general financial viability involved a different approach. The Practice was commissioned to design an alternative scheme and secure Town Planning consent for the development.

The new project involved demolition of the two large Victorian warehouses and associated outbuildings and obtaining planning consent for nine terraced two and three storey dwellings in two blocks with integral garages. Based upon a simple generic plan of two and three bedroom accommodation various elevational treatments were achieved providing an interesting and lively townscape to The Fairfield.
