Dockenfield, Hampshire
This project, commissioned in 2006 by Sufi Way Limited, involved the design of a replacement dwelling in the Countryside outside a small village settlement on the Surrey / North Hampshire border.
The 3D computer generated image illustrates the proposal intended to be evocative of a detached country “barn-like” building design to harmonise with its idyllic rural setting.
The proposed construction, a timber framed, timber clad building under a plain clay tiled roof, embodies an holistic design approach to energy conservation.
The new dwelling is designed to very high standards of thermal insulation, with a large percentage of its energy requirements achieved from renewable sources.
The planning application to Waverley Borough Council was refused in April 2007 and an Appeal to the Planning Inspectorate was subsequently allowed.
