Waverley Borough Council design awards

2003

Brian Haworth was pleased to accept the invitation as one of five judges to select and award the 2003 Design Awards.

The Waverley Design Award Scheme is a biennial event set up in 1995 to encourage and reward good design across the administrative area of Waverley Borough Council.

The 2003 Design Award scheme attracted over 60 entries. The awards include a number of categories such as Schools, Practical Projects, Art, Academic Projects, New Buildings, Conversions and Alterations, Environmental Design and Enhancement.

The next Waverley Design Awards scheme will be in 2005 for projects completed between 1 April 2003 an 31 March 2005.

2005

Together with John Davey of Guildford Borough Council, Paul Darking of The D & M Planning Partnership, Cllr Celia Savage, and President of The Haslemere Society Robert Serman, Brian Haworth was pleased to join the panel of judges for the 2005 Waverley Design Awards.

The 2005 outright winner was Ptolemy Dean for his inspirational work at St Andrews Church in Farnham, a Grade I parish church, the largest in Surrey. The mission of this scheme was to reinstate St Andrews Church at the “heart of Farnham” to open it up to more flexible patterns of worship, and to a wider community of the town itself. It has succeeded at every level.

The next Waverley Design Awards scheme will be in 2007 for projects completed between 1 April 2005 and 31 March 2007.
